Discover Your Voice

Voice is the manifestation of the soul.

Your whole body is your instrument. It takes breath support, vocal fold vibrations and resonance to create your voice. It takes vocal variety to bring that voice to life. The ability to communicate our thoughts effectively depends on these forces and yet we often neglect this part of our instrument.

Speech works will teach you how to release your natural voice, keep it healthy and use it effectively to communicate your intentions.

Voice Therapy

One of the areas of specialization at Speech Works is voice therapy. Voice therapy is an noninvasive approach to voice disorders. Here at Speech Works we use an ecclectic approach to the many and varied voice problems. Therapy usually begins with a referal from an ENT doctor. A complete evaluation including quantified voice parameters via Sona Speech II (a software programs created by KAY Elemetrix) follows. The therapy usually lasts for several weeks and involves direct training under a certified speech and language pathologist as well as activities designed to be practiced at home.

Major insurance companies accepted.

"I wanted to send you a note to thank you for your help in getting my voice 'back'. I didn't always see where you were going but once I could begin actually speaking, not just making sounds, I realized that 'I got it'!
You were so patient with me and encouraging. I didn't feel self-conscious with you at all. I wish I could be a little muouse to see how you work with other clients. You are so skilled and confident in your work. And I also admire your flexibility. If I wasn't doing what you wanted me to do, you quickly found another way to accomplish the exercise.
You must get so much satisfaction from all that you do and accomplish. Thanks so much for your part in my journey."

"I just wanted to say thank you for everthing you've done for me these past couple months.
When I first shouwed up in your office following surgery, you know how skeptical I was concerning therapy. Having spoken the same way my entire life, I didn't really believe you would be able to not only re-train my voice, but adjust  my attitude concerning treatment as well. Boy, was I surprised!
Your proffessionalism, perseverance, encouragement and patience certainly have paid off. I'm not saying I don't still have some work to do; but tghanks to you, I have the skill and drive to be "kinder to my vocal chords".
Thaks again for everything. "
